GERMAN MEATBALLS, MASHED POTATOES WITH SALAD

So today will be something different. This is not one of my recipes but it belongs to a good friend of mine, Dennis Horst. He is from Germany, and well, you know how they love potatoes. This is a German mashed potato with a salad recipe with a kick. The mashed potatoes have a hint of nutmeg and a splash of milk, while the salad is too good to resist. Equipment you will need;

Handmixer
Frying Pan
Oven

Ingredients: For the mashed potatoes

Half a pot of Potatoes
Milk
2tp Nutmeg

For the Minced Meat;

  • 500g minced meat
  • Breadcrumbs or normal bread 4 slices
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tp black pepper
  • 1tp red paprika
  • 1 Spoon of Heinz Mustard

For the Salad;

  • 5 Tomatoes
  • 1/2 Onion
  • 1 Spoon of Olive Oil
  • 1teaspoon salt
  • 1 tp black pepper
  • 1 lime

Procedure:

  • Set The Water for the Potatoes and let it boil,
  • Add 1 teaspoon of salt,
  • Then continue preparing your Meatballs mixture;
  • Add the Minced meat and eggs, including the spices, then add your breadcrumbs (4slices of bread put in water and rinse afterwards)
  • And mix the mixture well
  • Prepare your Salad by adding
    5 tomatoes and half an onion with salt and pepper including a nice squeeze of lime.
    Mix your salad,
    Set aside or in the fridge for best results.
  • By now the water should be boiling, continue by adding your peeled potatoes and boil for 30 min.
    After they are boiled, find a big bowl and add the potatoes including 300ml of whole milk with your teaspoons of nutmeg.
    Now find your mixing machine and mash the potatoes till they become a creamy yogurt ish consistency. If you do not have a hand mixer, you can buy one here.
  • Continue with creating your meatballs by forming the minced meat mixtures in balls and fry them on each side for at least 4-6min
    Then keep them in the oven at 220 degrees (C)for another 5 min to dry.

Serve them with a Scoop of Your mashed potatoes and 2 meatballs including your nice salad
Crack open A cold Coca-Cola and enjoy!

For the Salad

  • 5 tomatoes
  • 1/2 an onion
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp lime
